Het is wellicht een van de meest vervelende issues die je kan tegenkomen bij een hoster, een blacklisted IP.

(Microsoft) blacklists verleden tijd

Bij Cloudwebservices hadden wij hier helaas ook mee te maken voor Microsoft mail adressen (hotmail.com, outlook.com etc.). Wij hebben afgelopen nacht een oplossing voor dit probleem gevonden om, onafhankelijk van Microsoft, toch altijd je mail in de inbox te krijgen van Microsoft adressen.

Vanaf nu verloopt de mails die naar Microsoft gestuurd worden via een ander pad dan normaal. Dit garandeert de aflevering en de ESP (Email Service Provider) waarmee we samen werken, heeft zelf goede connecties  met het Microsoft Abuse and Delivery team. Wij kunnen nu dus zo goed als garanderen dat de mails die je verstuurd aan Microsoft adressen goed aankomen. Mits het natuurlijk geen bulk of spam berichten zijn. 

Wij monitoren natuurlijk zelf op blacklists met onze IP adressen. Mochten wij er een gemist hebben, en je mail is geblokkeerd. Dan horen wij dat graag met een ticket en de foutmelding die is ontvangen.

VPS mail relay services beschikbaar

Vanwege deze aanpassing. Is het ook mogelijk om met je VPS gebruik te maken van deze dienst. Om de service aan te vragen, kan er een ticket geopend worden via de Shop. Wij helpen je daarna met het instellen van de relay services.

Oorzaak

De oorzaak van het probleem is de wel bekende “reputatie” van IP adressen bij Microsoft. Zij hebben een grote database met, zo niet alle, IP adressen die mails afleveren aan de mail servers van Microsoft. Omdat Cloudwebservices nieuw is, samen met de IP range die wij gebruiken. Hebben de IP’s die wij en de VPS klanten gebruiken nog geen reputatie opgebouwd.

Vanwege het uit blijven van de reputatie, zijn de IP adressen geblacklists bij Microsoft. Er is een delisting service, alleen kan dit wel weken duren voordat er vordering te zien is. Om dit te voorkomen, werken wij met een grote ESP samen om de mails naar Microsoft adressen toch te laten bezorgen.

Cause

The cause of the problem is the well-known “reputation” of IP addresses at Microsoft. They have a large database with, if not all, IP addresses that deliver emails to Microsoft mail servers. Due to the lack of reputation, the IP addresses are blacklisted at Microsoft. There is a delisting service, but this can take weeks before a claim can be seen. To prevent this, we work together with a large ESP to have the mails delivered to Microsoft addresses.
