Beste Klant,

Zoals het onderwerp van deze email aangeeft, gaat Cloudwebservices verhuizen van datacenter. Dit is niet onze keuze geweest, maar wel noodzakelijk.

Graag lichten wij deze actie toe met informatie die handig zal zijn tijdens de migratie.

Waarom verhuisd Cloudwebservices?

Cloudwebservices bestaat sinds 1 juli 2018 en vrij snel, 1 januari 2019, hadden wij een eigen rack in het (toemalig) Alticom datacenter in Lelystad. Dit is ons goed bevallen en hebben meermaals het contract verlengd.

Door de ontwikkelingen van 2022 kwam de energiemarkt onder vuur te staan. Zo ook bij datacenters, welke onder grootverbruik horen.

Lang hebben wij de prijzen onveranderd weten te houden, mede door goede afspraken met de datacenter exploitant (HostSlim). Helaas zijn deze afspraken niet meer te houden door het datacenter zelf. En heeft ons datacenter exploitant ervoor gekozen het contract per 1 maart 2023 te beëindigen.

Wat veranderd er aan mijn diensten?

Het goede nieuws is dat er nagenoeg niets veranderd voor alle klanten van Cloudwebservices. Alle servers, IP’s en backups gaan mee naar het andere datacenter die ons datacenter exploitant heeft gekozen.

De migratie zelf zal natuurlijk voor wat downtime zorgen, maar we zullen proberen dit tot het minimum te beperken.

Welk datacentrum gaat Cloudwebservices in zitten?

De datacenter exploitant heeft gekozen voor Switch AMS2 te Woerden als nieuw datacenter faciliteit.

Dit datacenter biedt dezelfde voordelen als de toren, zoals goede connecties, ruime keuze van upstream providers & alles up-to-date naar de laatste Tier III datacenter standaarden.

Locatie Almere blijft ongewijzigd en zal nog steeds fungeren als backup datacenter. Wanneer Cloudwebservices er klaar voor is, zullen we kijken naar dual-datacenter opstellingen.

Wanneer zal de migratie plaatsvinden?

Samen met HostSlim zijn we in gesprek wat de beste tijd en datum zal zijn. Eerst moeten de interconnects en netwerkapparatuur aanwezig zijn, daarna kan Cloudwebservices migreren.

De exacte datum wordt in een aparte email op een later tijdstip doorgegeven.

Dear Customer,

As the subject of this email indicates, Cloudwebservices is moving it’s datacenter. This was not our choice, but it was necessary.

We would like to explain this action with information that will be useful during the migration.

Why is Cloudwebservices moving?

Cloudwebservices has existed since July 1, 2018 and quite quickly, January 1, 2019, we had our own rack in the (then) Alticom datacenter in Lelystad. We liked this and have extended the contract several times.

Due to the developments of 2022, the energy market came under pressure. This also applies to datacenters, which categorizes under large-scale consumption.

We managed to keep the prices unchanged for a long time, partly due to favorable agreements with the datacenter operator (HostSlim). Unfortunately, these agreements can no longer be kept by the datacenter itself. And our datacenter operator has chosen to terminate the contract as of March 1, 2023.

What will change about my service?

The good news is that virtually nothing will change for all Cloudwebservices customers. All servers, IPs and backups go to the other datacenter that our datacenter operator has chosen.

The migration itself will of course cause some downtime, but we will try to keep this to a minimum.

Which datacenter will Cloudwebservices be located in?

The datacenter operator has chosen Switch AMS2 in the municipality of Woerden as a new datacenter facility.

This datacenter offers the same advantages as the tower, such as good connections, a wide choice of upstream providers & everything up-to-date to the latest Tier III datacenter standards.

Location Almere remains unchanged and will still function as a backup datacenter. When Cloudwebservices is ready, we will look at dual-datacenter setups.

When will the migration take place?

Together with HostSlim we are discussing what the best time and date will be. First the interconnects and network equipment must be in place, then Cloudwebservices can migrate.

The exact date will be communicated in a separate email at a later date.
